"I was a working actor in Los Angeles for 35 years. I can honestly say that I do not think that career would have happened without the guidance and magic of Ian Tucker. He understands the psychology of the actors mind so well that you never feel that he is teaching you. Yet in a very short time you are vastly improved as an actor. The things he has taught me created a foundation that
supported me throughout my career. You have to experience it to know what I really mean. Again, pure magic!"

"Then there was an acting coach here in Hollywood near The Groundlings—Ian Tucker. He did a scene study class on cold reads, and he would literally take scripts from dramas or sitcoms and be like, "You're Kathy, you're Bob. Go." You'd have to read it and listen and react in the moment, and it was so freeing and so interesting, because dramatic scenes would read as comedy all of a sudden, and sometimes comedy scenes would read so dramatic. It was all about being in the moment. And he gave me great advice when I got my "SNL" audition. He said, "Just don't view it as trying to get the job. View it as an experience: a fun trip to New York, a great audition experience. Don't even think beyond that." Which is still hard to do, because you're thinking about the ultimate prize. But I tried to be true to that and not worry about the rest and stay focused on just having it be a cool experience. It took the pressure off, in a weird way."

"I’d gotten good at auditioning, because I was taking a class where the guy was fantastic. His name was Ian Tucker and he told us, “It’s a business. All you guys want to do is act, and you finally get an audition, and all anyone is asking you to do is focus and act for two minutes, because that’s about how long an audition is, and none of you can do it. You jump into their laps and wonder if they are paying attention. Do they like it? What are thinking? Forget it. Just perform.” So I got good at doing just that."

"I’ve been a working actor in Hollywood for over 30 years, and I credit Ian with not only teaching me how to last in a business that is notorious for using people up, but also how to do it and maintain my sense of self. His approach to acting is also a great approach life as well. Ian isn’t one of those teachers that makes a meal of a method in order to put the focus on himself in class; his advice is clear, simple and focused on making you a craftsperson who has respect for the art, an understanding of the rigors of the day to day life of the business, and a confidence that what you cultivate in yourself is what you can depend on. He teaches acting that got me the jobs and let me remember- acting is fun."
